Allan Hunt

–

Pleasant Grove, Utah

Allan Reed Hunt, 89, passed away peacefully after enduring the effects of dementia for several years. Despite his diagnosis, he knew his wife, his children, and his grandchildren until the end. His sense of humor and whit never left him.

Allan was born on October 17, 1934, in Alameda, CA, to Norma Schow Hunt and Carlton Clare Hunt. Allan was the 3rd of 5 children. At age 21, Allan served a fulltime mission in Uruguay, South America for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. There he fluently learned the Spanish language which would lay the foundation for his future career. After his mission, Allan worked at the Milpitas Ford Factory under his father who was a foreman. His lifelong Ford loyalty began there. Allan graduated from Brigham Young University with a Graduate degree in Spanish and minor in Math. This degree supported his career as Spanish and Math teacher at Atwater High School in Atwater, California for 40 years. Some of his memorable students were his soon to be wife, Juanita Leanese Mancha, and all six of his children. Yes, he robbed the cradle. Juanita Leanese Mancha caught the eye of the 31-year-old bachelor and they were married on her 17th birthday, September 9th, 1967. They were sealed for time and all eternity the following year in the Oakland, Ca temple. Together, Allan and Juanita have 6 children and 19 grandchildren.

Mr. Hunt, the Atwater High School algebra teacher, was beloved by many students over the years. His memorable catchphrases included “two rows,” “Hunt’s catchup,” and “you can do anything you want, as long as you’re willing to pay the consequences.” He shared many life lessons to all who knew him. After retirement, Allan and Juanita moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah where he lived out the rest of his life, surrounded by their family.

Some of Allan’s favorite things included vintage cars, church basketball (which he played until he was 85 years old), church service (He loved the Lord), BYU football and basketball games, and giving his children magical Christmas mornings. He loved family movies, soda pop, and candy bars (which were stashed all over the house). He loved See’s candy, Red Lobster, and a Western Bacon Cheeseburger.

Allan is survived by his wife Juanita Leanese Mancha, his children, David Hunt, Matthew Hunt (May), Jared Hunt (Julie), Chantal Hart (Bradley), Paul Hunt (Jill), and Daniel Hunt (Krystal), 19 grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carleton Clare Hunt and Norma Schow Hunt, siblings Dean Hunt, Duane Hunt, Maureen Hunt Gartin, and Gary Hunt, granddaughter, Ainsley May Hunt, and his loyal dog, Buster. The family would like to thank Carrie Brown and all the staff at the American Fork Beehive Home who were so kind to him.

Adios, Allan. Hasta que nos volvamos a ver.
