Betty NaDean Rosenlof Ewell, 82, of American Fork passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 15, 2014. Betty was born September 13, 1931 in Eureka, Utah to Walter Arno and Pearl Elizabeth Jolley Rosenlof. She married Walter Allen Ewell on December 28, 1948 in Payson. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.\n\nShe grew up in Eureka and later moved to Payson where she graduated from Payson HS in 1949. She was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings. She especially enjoyed her calling to serve in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.\n\nBetty was a loving wife, wonderful mother, and the best grandma. Her family was her life. She loved taking her family on vacation; camping, fishing and going to Yellowstone were her favorites.\n\nShe was a great seamstress sewing all of her children's clothing when they were small. She loved to make quilts and do embroidery to make beautiful gifts for family and friends.\n\nBetty was also a master cake decorator. Working for the Bungalow Reception Center in Pleasant Grove.\n\nShe and Dad farmed and she would take over the chores and water turns while he was at work. They also planted a big garden and she would can everything they grew. She always had fresh fruits and vegetables on her shelves. She was a master at canning.\n\nHer hobbies included reading, doing puzzles and she loved doing genealogy and extraction work.\n\nShe is survived by her husband Walter; six children: Betty (Kim) Laudie, Linda (Scott) Smith, Julie Stone, Joel (Mary) Ewell, Mark (Judi) Ewell; Leslie (John) Counsell; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and brother, Kent Nathaniel (Tina) Rosenlof. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Annette Ewell.\n\nShe was also preceded in death by her parents Walter Arno and Pearl Elizabeth Jolley, her mother and father in law Ellsworth Rulon and Martha Ewell, her sister and brother in law Joan and Melvin Rowe, her brother and sister in law Walter and Shirley Rosenlof.\n\nFuneral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 11:00 am in the American Fork 24th Ward Chapel, 975 North 60 East, American Fork. Family and friends may attend a viewing Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Bluffdale Cemetery.
