Betty LaRue Braithwaite Heaps, 87, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2015 at her home. Betty was born January 24, 1928 in Payson to Wallace and Mazella Braithwaite. She married Gerald Alvey Heaps on April 10, 1944 in Ely, Nevada. Gerald passed away in 2007. Betty grew up in southern Utah County and attended schools there. She met Gerald while working at the soda fountain in the drug store in Payson. Betty loved to travel with dad especially after his retirement. They enjoyed seeing the country in their motorhome and spending winters in Brenda near Quartzite, Arizona. Betty enjoyed fishing, quilting, crocheting and gardening.\n\nShe is survived by her five children: Barbara (Mark) Walters; David (Margaret) Heaps; Linda (Neil) Porter, Edward Heaps; Jeffery (Kay) Heaps; 30 grandchildren and 65 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; three brothers: Blaine (Diane) Braithwaite, Keith (Karen) Braithwaite and Larry (Connie) Braithwaite. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gerald; her daughter, Betty Jean Dodge and brother, Jerald Braithwaite.\n\nGraveside services will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
