Blaine Brailsford returned to our Heavenly Father on April 2, 2014, where he was greeted by his eternal companion Mary Helen Rasmussen.\n\nBlaine was born on March 1, 1921, to George Albert and Irma Jean Patten Brailsford. He grew up in Springville with brothers Leonard and Jim who preceded him in death. Blaine is a decorated World War II veteran serving in the US Navy as a radar operator on the battleship USS Tennessee. He married Mary Helen Rasmussen on August 8, 1946, and lived in Pleasant Grove where they raised their six children in the covenant on a Utah Century Farm: Mary Lue (Creig) Fryer, Ronald (Judy) Brailsford, LeAnn (Todd) Bailey, Carl (Mary Ellen) Brailsford, Kevin R (Rebecca) Brailsford and Tom (Shauna) Brailsford.\n\nHe is also survived by a son Dr. Samuel (Kathleen) Brailsford Earle.\n\nHe is preceded in death by his "Sweetie" Mary Helen and son Kevin.\n\nBlaine worked for and retired from US Steel Geneva works. He inherited a strong work ethic and passed this characteristic on to his posterity. He married Arden McArthur August 11, 1987 who has been a loving wife, attentive companion and caregiver.\n\nBlaine has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.He enjoyed farming, traveling, dancing and numerous callings in the LDS church. He often testified of his love for the gospel. Blaine and Arden served missions in the Johannesburg South Africa Temple and at the Lindon Cannery.\n\nA viewing will take place on Sunday, April 6, at the Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah from 6-8 pm.\n\nServices will be held on Monday, April 7, at 2 pm in the Orchard Ward LDS Chapel, 828 South Locust Avenue, Pleasant Grove, Utah with a gathering from 12:45 to 1:45.
