WATCH LIVE FUNERAL STREAM HERE On the evening of July 17, 2020, Bret Anderson, age 36, collapsed while retrieving a well-loved blanket for his little girl during the nightly bedtime routine. Valiant efforts were made by his brave, sweet wife, Holly, and emergency personnel, but he could not be revived. He slipped away quickly and painlessly from this life. Bret Layne Anderson was born November 13, 1983, in Logan, Utah. He was the second child and oldest son of Layne and Laura Anderson. In 1985, his family moved to Lindon, Utah, where he lived in the same home, attending Lindon Elementary, Oak Canyon Jr High, and Pleasant Grove High School (Class of 2002). He then served a two year mission in the Montana Billings Mission from 2003 to 2005. He graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in Digital Media. Bret worked for his Uncle Jed at Progress Manufacturing and then a custom gauge company, Speedhut, where he was currently employed as the head of the IT department. On September 2, 2011, he married his beautiful wife, Holly J. Skinner, in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. She was the love of his life, and they enjoyed almost nine years together. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Ivy and Daphne who adored him and an infant son who was greatly anticipated by his father Bret. Born July, 21, 2020 just four days after his passing. We would like to think they had met in heaven, embraced, and spent time together. His family was his world and he immediately became a devoted husband and father. He fathered with endless and boundless love, patience, and kindness. Bret was a deeply-committed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in whatever he was asked to do. He had a firm testimony of his Savior Jesus Christ from a special experience on his mission. Bret was easy to love and easily gave love. His genial personality and ability to make others feel important and included has left a hole in the lives of family and friends. His eagerness to please and willingness to serve were hallmarks of his life. Bret had many talents and interests, which he used to help his family and friends. With his friends, he created a series of podcasts, which will stand as a legacy for his family. Although nothing can fill the hole that is left with Bret's passing, we hold firmly to the doctrine of eternal families and we look forward to being reunited with him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Holly (Pleasant Grove), their two daughters, Ivy and Daphne, a brand new infant son, his parents Layne and Laura Anderson (Lindon); siblings: Marie (Mike) Hansen (Smithfield) Olie (Kara) (Vidor, TX), Boyd "BK" (Katelyn) (Kennewick, WA), and Wade (Ashlee) (Logan); his father and mother-in-law, Andrew and Janet Skinner (Lindon); sisters and brothers-in-law: Cheryl (Lindon), Charlie (Stephanie) (Phoenix, AZ), Kelli (Wade) Eyerly (Lehi), Mark (London, UK), Suzie (Provo); grandparents: Kent and Janet Anderson (Lindon), Jane Ivie (Pleasant Grove), Holly's grandmother Ilean Corbridge (Malad, ID), and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who have been an important part of his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandpa, William Ivie. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, private family services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Battle Creek Second Ward Chapel, 1250 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove with a viewing from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. followed by a family funeral at 11:00 a.m. (Friends may stream the funeral service via link at top of obituary). Ward members, friends and associates are invited to the dedication of the grave at 12:30 p.m. in the Lindon City Cemetery, 600 North 200 East, Lindon, Utah. Following the dedication, any who would like to briefly visit with Holly and the family are invited and welcome to do so.
