Carl Walter Clark, 78, of Salem, long-time Pleasant Grove resident, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 while returning from a youth trip in southern Utah. Carl was born January 22, 1939 in Provo, Utah to Walter and Reba Gordon Clark. He married Leonette Giles of Springville on July 30, 1960 in the Manti LDS Temple.\n\nCarl grew up in Provo but graduated from Vista High School in San Diego, California. Carl and Leonette made their first home in Orem and later moved to Pleasant Grove where they raised their four boys. Carl was a Machinist/Shop Foreman at Valtek in Springville and spent 37 years as a valued employee. Being a talented Gunsmith, Carl spent many hours enjoying this hobby where he owned and operated his own business, Carl's Gunshop. He was an avid BYU fan and enjoyed attending football and basketball games. He loved the outdoors and spent many days hunting, fishing, camping and boating with loving family and many friends. Carl was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served in a Bishopric and in a Stake Presidency. His favorite callings involved serving in the youth auxiliaries. He also loved being a temple worker in both the Provo and St. George temples.\n\nHe is survived by his wife, Leonette of Salem; four sons: Victor (Valerie) Clark, Lehi; Joseph (Nanette) Clark, Pleasant Grove; Wally (Jill) Clark, Provo and Alan (Natalie) Clark, Spanish Fork; 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; three sisters: Brenda Knudsen, Lynette Shumway and Chrissy (Neil) Tate. He was preceded in death by his parents and baby sister, Sherri Smith.\n\nFuneral services will be Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Cherry Ridge LDS Chapel, 1129 South 250 West, Salem, Utah. Family and friends may attend viewings Friday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church in Salem on Saturday from 9:00-10:45 am prior to services.
