Clayton E Wright Jr.

–

Pleasant Grove, Utah

Clayton E Wright Jr., 74, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, at Bellaview Assisted Living, surrounded by his loved ones and family.

Clayton was born on November 2, 1951, in American Fork, Utah. He began working at a transmission shop in Salt Lake City when he was just 17 years old, sweeping floors and learning the business from the ground up. Through years of hard work and dedication, he worked his way up to becoming a partner and eventually the owner and operator of J&M’s Transmission Clinic, which he later expanded to three locations. Clayton was known for his strong work ethic, unwavering integrity, and his dedication to his clients and those around him.

He is well remembered for the thousands of hours he spent volunteering with local church youth groups and scouting programs, and for the fact that, even though he grew up hunting and fishing, he was strongly opposed to roughing it. “I can see you just fine from my trailer”, he would say.

Outside of work, Clayton loved living life to the fullest. He enjoyed driving fast and spending time with family, (preferably at the same time), and was often found as a blur in the mountains, on the water, in the snow, in the sand, or at the track. He loved adventure and was always ready to make the most of a good day. Whether he was traveling around the world, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time with family, Clayton had a way of turning ordinary moments into lasting memories.

Clayton was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Wright, and his parents Clayton J Wright and Edna Jeanne Elsberry Wright.

Clayton is survived by his high school sweetheart, world travel companion, and wife of 54 years, Linda; his four children: Tim, Jessica Broadhead (Shawn), Jenny Meservy (Rob), and Emily Gwilliam (Jeff); his eight grandchildren: Skyley (Chris), Baylee, Casey, Benny, Daxen, Christian, Lexi, and Eliana; and his siblings, Ron Wright and Debbie Wright Phillips (Mark).
Clayton will be remembered for his playful spirit, and sense of humor, with many “Claytonisms” repeated to this day. While he teased often, it was always kind and uplifting, reflecting his loving nature.

He worked hard, played even harder, and brought energy, laughter, and adventure to the lives of those around him. His love for his family and friends, and the countless memories he created will remain with us forever.
He is deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
