Cynthia "Cindy" VanUitert

–

Pleasant Grove, Utah

Cynthia “Cindy” (Osborne) VanUitert, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on June 22, 2026, at the age of 65.

Cindy was born on December 22, 1960, in Murray, Utah, to Virgus Connell “Con” Osborne and Marjorie Mae (Tuttle) Osborne. She was raised in Utah and graduated from Orem High School in 1979. Following high school, she attended Brigham Young University before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Florida from January 1982 to June 1983. Her faith and commitment to service remained important influences throughout her life.

On February 10, 1984, Cindy married her high school sweetheart, Tony Dean VanUitert. Together they shared more than 42 years of marriage, building a home centered on faith, family, and love. Through life’s joys and challenges, family remained at the center of her heart.

Cindy dedicated much of her professional career to serving students and families as a food service worker in schools throughout Utah and western Washington. Her love of cooking and caring for others extended beyond her work through volunteering in food service at Girl Scout camps. She especially enjoyed preparing meals for children and spending time with them, taking pride in helping create meaningful experiences and lasting memories.

Outside of work, Cindy was an avid reader who could often be found with a good book in hand. She loved spending time with family, especially her sisters, whether shopping together, sharing conversations, or enjoying card games. She treasured life’s simple moments and found joy in maintaining close family connections.

More than anything, Cindy loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. Her kindness, gentle spirit, sense of humor, and caring nature will be remembered by all who knew her.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Tony Dean VanUitert; her sons, Nicholas VanUitert and Nathan (Vanessa) VanUitert; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Holly, and Shaun; and her sisters, Cherie (Paul) Thompson, Carla (Mike) Smoot, Christine (Ryan) Rowley, Connie (John) Howard, and Caryn (John) Crandall.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgus Connell “Con” Osborne and Marjorie Mae (Tuttle) Osborne, and her daughter, Melissa C. (VanUitert) Dazley.

Cindy’s family will remember her for her love of books, her devotion to family, her willingness to serve others, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. She never forgot an important birthday, anniversary, or special occasion, and those who knew her best will always remember seeing her with a Diet Coke in hand. Her greatest joy in life was simply being there for the people she loved. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
