Daniel Simper, 95, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 30, 2015. He was born November 13, 1920 in Murray, Utah to Thomas Robert and Elizabeth Cooper Pixton Simper. He married Doris Carroll on November 7, 1942. Doris passed away in 2011.\n\nDaniel grew up in Murray and graduated from Murray High School in 1938. After high school, he served as a Merchant Marine during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After the war ended, he returned to Utah and worked at Geneva Steel and retired after 36 years. He also owned and operated S & S Frostop, Murray; D & D Frostop, Lindon; and Dan's Drive Inn, Lehi. Dan was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings. He worked in both the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos Temples. Daniel had a great love for his family, enjoyed being in the outdoors and was an avid woodworker.\n\nHe is survived by his four children: Brent (Karen) Simper, Rigby, ID; Carol (Dale) Richins, Terreton, ID; Ron Simper, Pinedale, WY and Joan (Warren) Brandow, Pleasant Grove; 19 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, granddaughter and great-granddaughter.\n\nFuneral services will be held Friday, December 4, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Timpanogos Third Ward Chapel, 425 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Friday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 72. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
