Donna LaLita (Russon) Woffinden Obituary (1930

Donna LaLita Russon Woffinden, 89, of Pleasant Grove passed away January 4, 2020 in the home of her daughter Gail Burrell from natural causes. She was born in Lehi Utah to Rulon L. and Margaret LaLita Russon on August 23, 1930. She was quite the tomboy being the sister of three younger brothers, Nile, Glade and Kent. Donna grew up in Lehi and graduated from Lehi High School. She played high school basketball, was Senior Class Vice President, twirled the baton in the band and worked for the 4th Ward Cash Store for 35 cents an hour. Donna met Leo Woffinden when she was a senior in high school. Leo's family lived next door and upon his return from serving in the Navy during WWII, they started dating. They would go dancing every Saturday night in Springville and sometimes at Saltair by the Great Salt Lake. They were married June 16, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Donna and Leo made their home in Pleasant Grove where they raised their children: Gail, Jay, Janet, Karalee and Mark. Donna has lived in her Pleasant Grove home for 69 years. Donna was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings and truly enjoyed serving as a missionary at the Missionary Training Center in Provo. She did that for many years. She has done countless humanitarian projects that included sewing 1494 little dresses for foreign countries, 278 tee-shirts, 44 book bags, and stuffed bears for children in hospitals. She is a fantastic seamstress and has made quilts for all her grandchildren as well as shirts, jackets, bibs and so forth. She is a great example of love and service and will truly be missed. She is survived by her four children: Gail (Craig, deceased) Burrell, Jay (Bobbi) Woffinden, Janet (Alan) Rhodes and Mark (Carolyn) Woffinden; her 31 grandchildren, 106 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; her brothers: Nile (Myra) Russon, Glade (Rhonda)Russon, and Kent (Marsha) Russon and son-in-law, Doran (Cathleen) Wilde. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rulon and LaLita Russon; husband Myrven Leo Woffinden; daughter, Karalee Wilde; son-in-law, Craig Burrell and grandson-in-law, Andy Liddle. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Timpanogos Sixth Ward Chapel, 332 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Friday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the Church on Saturday from 9:30-10:45 am prior to funeral services.
