Dwendin Leon Kirkman Obituary (1937 - 2016)

Dwendin Leon Kirkman age 79 of Pleasant Grove, Utah passed away on December 29, 2016 in Provo, Utah. He was born August 15, 1937 in Pocatello Idaho to Dwendin Royal and Mavis Gilbert Kirkman. Leon grew up in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1955. He married Lula Bell (Lue) Farnsworth on March 2, 1960. They were blessed with 4 daughters. Lula passed away on June 21, 1999. He then married Marjolyn Pierre on August 5, 2000. He was then blessed with 8 stepchildren. Leon worked for AT&T and Mountain Bell as an engineer and manager retiring after 38 years. He worked in Salt Lake City, Heber City, Provo, Minnesota, and Washington. After his retirement he went to work for Lear Siegler Inc. as a sales Manager. He loved the adventure of travel associated with this job. He received the Salesman of the Year Award. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. He and Marjolyn served in the Belgium Brussels Netherlands mission for 18th months from 2008 to 2009. He also served in other varies callings but his favorite calling was working in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. He loved going to BYU football games, fishing, and cross-stitching. He loved fast cars and he never missed watching the Indianapolis 500 on TV. But his greatest joys were his 29 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Leon is survived by his wife Marjolyn of Pleasant Grove Utah, daughters Terri (Cary) Southworth of Mapleton Utah, Melanie (Dave) Johnson of West Jordan Utah, Dwendy (Stephen) Reid of South Jordan Utah, Jenifer (Alan) Muir of Shelley Idaho. His stepchildren Paul Pierre of Los Molinas California, Sondra Pierre of Likely California, Duane (Kelly) Pierre of Vancouver, Washington, Jodie (Doug) Larson of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Joel Pierre of Santa Cruz, California, Andrea (Gavino) Calderon of Orangevale, California, Nicole Garrett of Lehi, Utah, Micaela Pierre of Orangevale, California 24 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. His brothers Dale (Judy) Kirkman of Pocatello Idaho, Ralph (Karen) Kirkman of Caldwell Idaho, his brother-in-law Mertin Mitchell of Pocatello, Idaho. His parents, 1st wife Lula and his sister Darla Kirkman precede him in death. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Northfield Stake Center Chapel, 140 W. 1800 North, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may visit Saturday morning from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
