Elaine Oaks

–

Pleasant Grove, Utah

Elaine ReNee Oaks passed away peacefully on August 5, 2023 at 11:11 pm. She was surrounded by family at Mountain Point Hospital in Lehi, Utah during her final hours.

Born on January 17, 1948 in Ogden, Utah to Rozena and V. LeRoy Oaks, Elaine was the youngest of six children. She enjoyed cooking with her mother, Rozena. One of their holiday specialties was Rocky Road chocolate bark and Rhubarb Rolly Polly.

Elaine especially enjoyed singing, and participated in her junior high choir, as well as the Girl's Glee Club at Weber High School. After graduating from Weber High School in 1966, Elaine attended Ricks College in Idaho.

In December of 1968, Elaine was called to serve in the Switzerland mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served from February 1969 - December 1970, with the cities of Zurich and Lucerne being favorites of hers.

Elaine's career with the Utah State Division of Information Services earned her several accolades, including several Employee of the Month recognitions, and a letter from the Senior Account Manager at Novell praising her skills and professionalism which saved the state about a million dollars.

Family history and genealogy were great passions of Elaine's, and she shared stories of ancestors in a monthly email to the extended family. One of Elaine's favorite callings at church was serving as the Primary President. Her easy and enthusiastic sense of humor made her a natural with children.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, her oldest brother Hyrum, and sister-in-law, Virginia. She is survived by four siblings, Harold (Ima Jean), Charlene (Don), Ferron (Mae), and Annette (Herb), and Hyrum's wife, Dorothy.

The Oaks family sends warm thanks to the ICU staff and Chaplain Carl for their service and support.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Lehi 43rd Ward Chapel; 3180 North 300 West, Lehi. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
