Etta May Nielson Bowers, 87, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023, of natural causes. May was born, November 13, 1935, the first child to Harold Walter (HAD) Nielson and Elsie Mildred Barnhart Nielson. May grew up in “Monkey Town” Pleasant Grove. She married Gene Wesley Bowers on June 6, 1952. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple on September 8, 1988. May and Gene had 5 boys together. Tony, Dee, Jerry, Val and Coy. \n\nMay loved camping, hunting, and fishing with her family and friends. She loved to read the scriptures and color beautiful pictures in her coloring books, go yard selling and to go to D.I. She lived in Brightwork Park Place assisted living center in Pleasant Grove the last couple of years. \n\nMay is survived by her sons: Dee Bowers, Elsinore, Utah and Val (Shirilee) Bowers, American Fork; her siblings Bud Nielson, Pleasant Grove; Bill (Ruth) Nielson, Fruitland; Dan(Chris) Nielson, American Fork, brother in law, Newell Curtis, American Fork; her 16 grandkids and many great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene Bowers; sons: Tony Bowers, Jerry Bowers and Coy Bowers and sister, Sharon Curtis. She is having a great reunion with all of them. \n\nFamily and friends may attend a viewing Friday, February 24, 2023 from 11:00 am -12:00 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Private graveside services will be held in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. \n\nThe family would like to extend their gratitude to Annette and her staff at Park Place for their love and care for May.
