Fern Gwen Curtis Shepherd

Fern Gwen Curtis Shepherd, 83, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015. She was born the third of seven children on December 28, 1931 in Aurora, Utah to Avery and Cassie Johnson Curtis.

She attended schools in Salina and loved being in the North Sevier High School marching band. While in high school she met her sweetheart John Shepherd and they were married June 8, 1949 and made their home in Salina. In 1956 they moved their young family to Pleasant Grove and added one more daughter to the family. This was the home she lived in for the rest of her life.

Gwen loved doing yard work and had the most beautiful yards. She was so proud when she received the Pleasant Grove Beautification Award. She also loved doing things for her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed working alongside her husband John in their plumbing business and also going hunting with him.

She is survived by her children; Kathleen (Calvin) Fox, Paul (Sandy) Shepherd, Gale Harris, 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband John, infant son, Larry, daughter, Sheron Mitchell, son-in-law Gary Harris and granddaughter Kristy Kaylor also her parents and three siblings.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Family and friends may also attend an evening viewing Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. also at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, 700 North 100 West.
