Geniel Wright Adams Wilberg

–

Pleasant Grove, Utah

What do you say about a woman so full of life, so filled with zest and fun, and who brought joy and love to all those who loved her?

Geniel Wright Adams Wilberg was born August 3rd,1929, in Pleasant Grove to Joseph Ruel and Erma Pearl Wright Adams. She passed peacefully away at home in Pleasant Grove, in her sleep of natural causes on August 2nd, 2015. Each home she lived in in her home town had a view of her favorite mountain, Mount Timpanagos, which she adored, and never wanted to live out of its sight.

Her life was filled to the brim with activity from the moment she entered the world. She spent her entire 86 years living in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Her childhood was filled with picking strawberries, climbing trees, roller skating, ice skating, playing with real and imaginary friends, flying pretend planes from her apricot tree, baby-sitting beloved little ones from the time she was 10, and saving up for a bicycle, which was her prized possession. She loved school, and sports and got involved in every activity that school offered. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1947 with a scholarship to play basketball. But she went on to get married instead of to college, a decision which she never seemed to regret.

Geniel's first marriage was to David Lisle Waid in 1948. They had two children, Jann and Mikelle, which they raised with great love. Their daughter, Jann, remembers her as the best mother in the world. Every single day was filled with a sense of adventure. She planned something exciting to do and always took a picnic along. Jann saw the world from the basket of her mother's bicycle when she was too small to peddle her own. Every holiday was made magical. And all memories were accompanied by homemade cookies.

Geniel was always active in civic responsibilities, with her favorite being the work she did for The Strawberry Days Committee for the town of Pleasant Grove. Strawberry Day was her favorite holiday, and she celebrated this year, 2015, by riding in the parade! She loved every parade everywhere and said that they reminded her how much she loved her country.

She also worked energetically for her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, all her life. She loved, especially being one of the very first Girl's Camp directors called by the Young Women's General Board in 1962. She was Stake Girl's Camp director for over 13 years.

But most of all she relished her domestic role at home as a wife and mother, and later as a wonderful, fun-loving "Grammie", and finally as the best "GG" (Great-Grandmother) a little child could imagine.

Her second marriage was to Dexter Lisle Wilberg in the Salt Lake Temple, Sept. 10, 1980. They celebrated every day together until his passing on Sept. 17th, 2007. She missed him dearly every day he was gone.

Geniel was preceeded in death by her parents, Joseph Ruel Adams, and Erma Pearl Wright, and all of her siblings, Ruby Louise Adams Olsen, Joseph Ruel Adams, Jr., Reva Wright Adams Davis, Beth Wright Adams Burke; her son, David Mikelle Waid, her foster son, Duncan Scott Busha, and her husband Dexter Lisle Wilberg.

She is survived by her daughter, Jann Waid (Charles Randall) Paul of Highland, and her five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as her husband, Dexter's, five children, Michael D. (Kimberly) Wilberg, Patricia Batley, Kim L. (Diana) Wilberg, Elaine Carter, Jan C. Wilberg, and their beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She had a comforting faith, and was looking forward to reuniting with loved ones on the other side. She had quite an 86th birthday party! Those of us left behind missed that party and we miss her dearly, but we rejoice in the beautiful life she lived, and all the love she gave us.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove East Stake Center, 825 South Loader Drive, Pleasant Grove. with a viewing from 9 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
