Jacalene Marie Astrope passed away peacefully in her Pleasant Grove home Sunday, December 22, 2024. She was a devoted wife, adored mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Jackie was born December 26, 1935 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. She met the love of her life, Myrle, while working for the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Myrle knew from the first day that they would be married. Myrle and Jackie were married in October 1959 and recently celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.
They relocated with their family to Utah in 1980. Jackie enjoyed numerous hobbies including water and snow skiing, travel (especially to Hawaii), crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, music, gardening and baking. She was a gifted pianist and organist, playing for the ward for many years. She loved family dinners, notably, the New Years Eve tradition of Steak and crab legs and the numerous family trips to Lake Powell.
She also received multiple awards for her dedicated service to the Boy Scouts of American in which she served in multiple roles such as Den Mother.
She is survived by her husband, Myrle, and their five children: LeAnn (Gary) Boyer, Brent (Janet) Astrope, Kelly, Tyler (Atessa) Astrope, and Trevor (Amber) Astrope; her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her life advice for the rest of us is: “Just live life and behave. Don’t go on a date and look at your phone the whole time, and don’t drive and text”.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Battle Creek Seventh Ward Chapel, 1106 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove, Utah where family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30 – 10:45 am prior to the service.
