\nJackie Thornton Brady-Ostler passed away at her home in Orem, UT, on November 28, 2023.\n\nJackie was born on March 2, 1932, in Monroe, Utah, to John Edward Thornton and Alberta Lewis Thornton. She was also welcomed by an older sister, Cherril, and an older brother, Hal. Eleven months later her younger brother, Lynn, joined the family. They lived in Monroe for the next 12 years and Jackie had many happy memories growing up there.\n\nWhen she was 12 they moved to the big city of Provo where she attended Dixon Jr. High School and later Provo High School. She made many life-long friends during these years. It was while attending Provo High School she met and began dating Lester Marlow Brady. They were married on November 12, 1948, and later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on May 22, 1953.\n\nLes and Jackie lived in Pleasant Grove, Provo, and Alpine, and then built their home on Locust Avenue in Pleasant Grove in 1954 and lived there together for 47 wonderful years and raised their three children there. Jackie and Les worked hard to create a beautiful home filled with love, teaching life lessons, and creating many fun memories for their family. Jackie was always her children’s number one fan and supported them in all of their activities.\n\nJackie also worked at several different types of employment during her lifetime including waitress, clerk at a department store, aide at the Developmental Center, secretary and office manager for a law firm. She made many friends everywhere she worked and still kept in touch with many of them. Jackie was always serving those around her including her parents, her neighbors and friends, and her immediate and extended family.\n\nJackie served in many different callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she enjoyed them all but loved serving in the Mount Timpanogos Temple in the youth center and as an ordinance worker with Les. When Les became ill with leukemia, she became his caregiver and lovingly took care of him until his death in 2001.\n\nJackie married Floyd Ostler on June 23, 2006. They sold their homes in Pleasant Grove and moved to Orem where they both lived until their deaths in 2023. During this time, Jackie and Floyd were called to serve a mission at the Washington DC Temple which they loved and also served in the temple on their return\n\nMom, Grandma Jackie, Nanny Jack, Aunt Jackie are some of her beloved names. She exemplified service and sacrifice, love and devotion, faith, hope, virtue, honesty, diligence and enduring to the end. She taught her posterity many positive life lessons and also to love life and to enjoy the wonderful world we live in. The lives that have been affected for good by this wonderful lady are many.\n\nJackie is survived by her three children Alan M. Brady, Leslie (Mack) Hall, and Jan (Alan) Weight, 11 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester M. Brady; her second husband, Floyd L. Ostler; daughter-in-law, Deborah Brady; granddaughter, Sara Preston; grandson, Douglas Hall; and 2 great-grandchildren, Sage and Daisy Hall.\n\nFuneral services will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Suncrest Sixth Ward Chapel, 891 West 130 North, Orem, Utah where family friends may attend a viewing from 9:30 - 10:45 am prior to the services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
