James Patrick Robinson of Orem, Utah, passed away after a tragic car accident on Wednesday July 23, 2025.
He was born on November 14, 1941 in Torrence, California to parents Fredrick and Reba Brant Robinson.
He grew up and graduated in American Fork, Utah. Ed and Jim sure gave grandma a run for her money. Ed passed away from a motorcycle accident in 1976. Grandma always said they were a handful. Sweet little grandma raising these 2 wild boys, but she loved them somethin awful.
Jim served in the 101 Army Special Forces Elite Unit, for the Congo and Vietnam wars. He still had the bullet in his leg. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and countless others.
Dad was quite the charmer and loved the ladies, probably why he married multiple times. He was a stepfather to many children, some even took his last name Robinson.
Jim met his first wife Helga Fiedler while stationed in Germany. Together they had 2 sons, Doug and Danny. They later divorced but remained great friends to this day.
Jim married Tammie Peterson in 1973, and they had one crazy daughter Robin Greene. They later divorced.
Jim Married Sue Rasmussen in 1980 , they had Daddy's little girl: Jamie Poulsen.
Dad's last wife was Robin Chamberlain. They married in 1985 and she passed away in 2007.
Dad definitely made his mark on this world. He was quite the storyteller, you never knew if he was serious or just messing with you. He was hilarious and was constantly pulling your leg. He had a heart bigger than his chest, he was very giving and helped a lot of people out. Never needing recognition.
Dad was a proud member of the Eagles and loved everyone he knew there, especially the women bartenders.
In 2024, dad broke his neck. He was so strong and never complained to the nurses.
He called them sweetheart or a doll, and he was happy to let them wait on him. But had a hard time letting his daughter Robin help him, she figured out why. Dad was almost 83 but looked much younger, the ICU thought he was in his late 60's or early 70's. Hopefully he passed that down to his children. Dad was always quick witted and still had a sharp mind.
After his neck was broken, he moved in with his daughter Robin, and she will forever cherish everyday he was with them. He never said anything, but it's almost like he knew he was going to pass. In the last few months, he was able to give closure to those he loved.
He is survived by:
- Doug Robinson and his children Tasha, AJ and Brady
- Danny Robinson and his children
- Charlie & Anthony
- Robin and Rio Greene their children Marissa & Gracie Greene
- Jamie Poulsen and Taylor Ballstaedt and her children Jamison & Victoria Poulsen, Cambrie, Mckyah Poulsen, Ryker Whitman and Brooke & Jason Thompson
- Dad's best friend Mary Jo, who he loved very much
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed, grandson Drake, Baby Daughter and wife Robin. He had countless lifelong friends that have gone before him.
Dad has been reunited with all his family and friends and they're having a cold one with Grandma Reba.
We will celebrate his life Tuesday July 29, 2025 at 3:00 PM in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel; 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah.
