Jeffery Steven Smith, 56, of Provo passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his home of natural causes. Jeff was born July 6, 1959 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Maurice C. and Anna Louise Dupree Smith. He married Kathleen McAffee Brown in 1985 and together raised three beautiful daughters. They were later divorced.\n\nJeff grew up in many places throughout the world as his father served in the U S Army. He attended high school in Canyon, Texas and played on the football team. He attended West Texas State and later received a BS Degree in Recreational Therapy from BYU. He worked many years at the Utah State Hospital in Provo as a Recreational Therapist and enjoyed his associations with both staff and patients. Jeff loved playing softball and watching BYU football. His hobbies included: collecting stamps, coins, ceramics, working in his yard and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.\n\nHe is survived by his three daughters: Kodye Brown Porter, Saratoga Springs, Shannon Poulsen Crane, Springville and Jessica Brown Hammond, Salt Lake City and 12 grandchildren; siblings, Jayne Prentice, Haleiwa, HI; Glenna Schartmann, Draper and Gayle Olpin, Cedar Hills and sister-in-law, Cathy Jo Smith, Sturgis, KY. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, Maurice and infant sister, Maurica Ann.\n\nMemorial services will be held Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove where family and friends may attend a visitation one hour prior to services.\n\nCondolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
