Joseph Collins Leavitt passed away peacefully at the Orem Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility on February 27, 2023. He was making tremendous progress toward regaining strength and mobility, so his passing was unexpected.\n\nJoe was always sociable and loved to meet and make new friends as well as keeping in touch with family and friends. He was a gifted writer and had a large following on social media. He was also artistic and loved scrapbooking. He worked as a customer service representative and was a manager at the Hale Center costume shop in Glendale, Ca. He was also a part time actor. \n\nHis great love was being Santa Claus. He was Santa for over thirty years at Malls and various venues. He was Santa at the Los Angeles Zoo, the Hollywood Farmers Market and innumerable private events in Southern California and later in Utah. His wife, Andrea often accompanied him as Mrs. Claus. He wrote one book: Confessions of a Reluctant Santa. He had a beautiful Tenor voice and sang for many shows and events. He loved scrapbooking and created many books featuring his interests. \n\nIn the last few years he suffered from lymphodemia(sp) which severely limited his mobility. He entered the Orem Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in April 2022 when he was no longer able to walk. He worked tirelessly with the physical therapists there to get well and return to work and life outside. He was walking again and in line for some heart valve surgery when he passed away.\n\nHe leaves behind the other love of his life - His wife Andrea Steele and two sisters, Muriel Fujimoto and Moneta Jenson. He is also leaving many favorite cousins, In Laws and other relatives and facebook friends.\n\nFuneral services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30 – 10:45 am prior to the services. Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
