Joyce May Perkins Smart, 94, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully, August 5, 2017. Joyce was born May 16, 1923 in Murray, Utah to Laurel and Laura Perkins. She married Lyle John Smart November 5, 1946 in Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lyle passed away in 2005.\n\nJoyce grew up in the Salt Lake Valley and graduated from Granite High School in 1941. Joyce and Lyle moved to Union (Sandy) where they lived for 40 years, raising four children. She was a partner to her husband as they co-owned and operated Smartline Dairy. She and Lyle moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah in 1985 where they continued to farm under the name of Smartway Farms. Joyce enjoyed shopping, beautiful music, teaching, reading, handwork, the Christmas season, and had a special talent to recall stories, poems, rhymes and songs. Joyce was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. Visiting teaching was a joy to her! Joyce's greatest accomplishment in this life was her family and making every person her friend.\n\nShe is survived by her four children: Lorin Stanley (Janet) Smart, Wallsburg, Sidney Lyle (Karen) Smart, Pleasant Grove, Russell Lee (Candice) Smart, Herriman and Leesa (Randy) McKee, Heber City; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; numerous loving extended family including her niece, Joyce Thompson and nephew, James Perkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyle, and three siblings: James, Stanley and Beth.\n\nFuneral services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Northfield Third Ward Chapel, 2195 North 100 East, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Friday one hour prior to services.
