Kenna Louise Sweat was born November 8, 1965, in Hawthorne, Nevada, to Leroy and Nancy Hall, and spent the next 60 years sharing her light with others until her passing on April 22, 2026.
A proud Nevada native, Kenna spent her youth exploring the Silver State while living in Yerington, Elko, Fallon, and Hawthorne.
Kenna built her career from the ground up—literally. She began her journey with the Nevada Department of Transportation as a pavement analysis technician. Her work led her to Utah in 1998, where she continued as a soil analyst with the Bureau of Reclamation. She later worked as a lab technician for both Staker Parson and Granite Construction. Her career allowed her to travel throughout the western United States, and she loved her work and the people she worked alongside.
Kenna’s kindness was felt most by those lucky enough to be loved by her. As a true patriot, she was dedicated to helping share a love for the country through service to the Follow the Flag organization, which brought her some of her fondest memories. She loved being outdoors and was happiest when camping, hunting, or four-wheeling. Fall was her season, bringing with it the Fort Bridger Rendezvous and deer hunting which both brought quality time with family and friends.
Kenna is preceded in death by her father, Leroy; her mother, Nancy; and her stepson, Tyrel.
She is survived by her husband, Rick; brother Merlin (Buck) Hall; stepdaughter, Kasee Smith (Randy); grandchildren, Britny Adams (Cody), Dagen, Samantha, and Quincy; great-grandchildren, Deacon and Cole; and beloved in-laws Leon & Linda Sweat and Colby & Kathy Sweat. Kenna believed family was more than blood, and her impact is etched in the hearts of many including Joan, Jill, and countless other friends.
As a family, we are eternally grateful to the physicians and caregivers who gave us more time with her, including Dr. J. Aliammal, Dr. Soares, and Nurse Practitioner Nicole at Huntsman Cancer Institute, along with Jessi and the entire Applegate Hospice team.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Olpin Family Mortuary; 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may attend a visitation before the service at the mortuary from 10:00 - 10:45 AM. The interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
