Our father (Pops) Kent D. Barney passed away surrounded by his children on Monday evening December 25th, 2023 due to cancer. \n\nKent was born on February 9th, 1956 to Derell and Helen Barney. He was raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1974. He married Linda Maag in 1975. They raised their 4 children In Lehi until 1985 then moved to Orem Utah, where they lived for the next 18 years. They later divorced. He spent the rest of his life living in Lehi, Utah. \n\nKent retired from UPS as a driver for 20+ years. \n\nKent loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed planning and studying maps for our camping trips down to Gooseberry, Niotche Creek or our annual family vacations throughout the country. He enjoyed anything to do with history and geography. Dad loved Driving anywhere from Wendover to Canada , it was one of his favorite things to do, while listening to some good tunes, he had a love for his music. \n\nDad loved watching the Utah Jazz and St. Louis Cardinals play. He didn't miss a game. He was really good about going to his grandkids sporting events to support them in any way he could. \n\nKent is survived by his three children, Cameron (Kari) Barney, Lacy (Regan) Clark, Brandi (Cameron) Harris and 8 grandchildren, Brayden (Kendal), Shyloh, Coleton, Declan, Stockton, Farrah, Ivy, and Carter. He is preceded in death by his parents, and son Cole. \n\nThe family would like to express gratitude to the nurses who cared for him to try and keep him out of pain. Especially his “favorite” Nurse, Ashlee! Thanks for putting up with his stubbornness and teasing along with him. \n\nPops, thanks for all you have taught us throughout life! We will miss you and can’t wait to be with you again, until then, “Fly free as a bird.” Love you Pops! \n\nKent will be cremated and put to rest next to his son Cole. \n\nA private family graveside service will be held on January 20, 2024 at 1:00pm in the Lehi City Cemetery; 1525 North 600 East, Lehi, Utah 84043.
