Kimee Emerson Obituary (2022)

Our dear Mom, Gram, Aunt, Sister, Aunt Grandma, and friend, Kim Mutch Emerson, left this stage and entered the arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 24th where she was reunited with her parents John and Margaret, brother John, niece Laura, great-niece Rachael, best friend Bill, her sweet angel baby who she couldn't wait to see again, and her fur babies Tess, Teebo, and Cookie. And in true Kim fashion, she departed this world to fireworks. She is survived by her son Tim (Brenda), her grandsons Corbin and Isaac, sister Louise (Dee) and sister-in-law Kate, mother-in-law Evelyn, her incredibly special nieces and nephews Corinne (Pete), Jeff, Michael (Jamie), Eric (Denise), Brian (April), Christie (Jack), Julie (Jay), Jenny, Megan (Tim), Samuel (Chelsie), and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Kim was born in Murray, Utah where she began her many adventures as the surprise baby sister of John and Louise. She graduated from Murray High where she met and later married her best friend Bill and then studied music at the University of Utah. She had many jobs throughout the years, but her most cherished was being a music and English teacher. She impacted so many lives and stayed in touch with several of her students for years after. Her adventures continued when she moved to Ridgecrest, California where she taught at Calvary Christian School. She directed many plays including a school favorite, "High Tops," and wrote and produced "Broken Hinges" with Bill. So many great memories were made in that desert with her son Tim and adopted daughter-niece Christie, like carrying skis through the Mojave, trips to cello lessons in Pasadena every Wednesday, and many miracles where God provided, like the meatloaf and egg salad that never ran out and getting to the train station on gas fumes. The biggest miracle that happened there was when she gave her life to Jesus, and she received lots of deep healing and had big time fun. She spent a few years in Westcliffe, Colorado where she got to live amongst the wolves and bond with her daughter-in-love Brenda and new grandboy Corbin while her son Tim was deployed to Iraq. Their relationship was built during this time, and they really learned to rely on each other. Kim lived the rest of her life in Utah where she continued to make memories and impact lives. During these later years she fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a writer and publisher with her book series Digitus and her publishing house Master Koda. She built many deep friendships through her own writing and mentoring other writers. She would want all these friends to know how much she loved you and how proud of you she is. While Kim deeply loved so many people, more than we can list here, she shared some special memories with a few people that were dear to her heart. Running around in her early years with her niece Corinne who was a sister to her throughout their lives, gardening and visiting with her adopted girl Maren, and mischief making with her serf-girl Jenny. We will all remember her homemade brown paper bag Christmas socks where she would play Grandma Claus with her cotton ball beard, red toilet cover hat, and of course, Christmas underwear. More than anything in this world, she adored her sweet grandboys and her only son, Tim. They loved to play board games, cook, draw, go on treasure hunts, make up stories, and have all kinds of other adventures, most that she made up on the spot. She was the best at creating memories that they will carry forever. We will all cherish her kindness, encouragement, irreverent humor, problem solving, and her ability to find joy, laughter, and fun in every situation. We all have a huge Kim-sized hole that cannot be filled. So many people have been impacted by Kim. She had a way of making people feel so incredibly special. You were all so important to her. She would want you to know that you really are truly special and dear to her heart. We will be celebrating Kim's life on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 12:00 pm at the Adventure Church at 352 W 12300 S, Suite 100 in Draper, Utah. Please join us as we remember her and share our favorite memories of her together. The celebration will be followed by light food and fellowship. If you are not able to make it to the service, it will also be streamed online.
