Lyle Leon Christiansen

–

Pleasant Grove, Utah

Lyle Leon Christiansen, our loving husband, dad, and grandpa, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on September 24, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by his wife and children.

Lyle was born on September 1, 1934, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, to Owen and Priscilla Christiansen. Being the youngest of eight kids was no easy task, he was in charge of milking the cow, picking raspberries, taking the water turns and helping out on their little farm.

Lyle attended Pleasant Grove High School, where he participated in football and basketball. He married his high school sweetheart, Gale Sorensen, on October 3, 1953. Lyle and Gale were later sealed in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They had three wonderful children, Randy, Kelly, and Jan, and loved spending time camping in American Fork Canyon as a family.

Lyle owned his own wholesale distribution company, where he called on independent businesses throughout Utah County. He was lovingly referred to as “The Candyman.” His children and grandchildren all have fond memories of helping him with the candy truck. Lyle and Gale ran their business together for 33 years. Lyle retired at the age of 63.

Lyle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a lifetime of leadership in the Boy Scouts of America. Lyle earned his Eagle Scout award and loved participating in scouting events throughout his life. He was honored with the Silver Beaver Award.

Dad loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting, skiing, ice skating, and especially fishing at Flaming Gorge. He was also a big fan of the BYU Cougars. Lyle and Gale purchased a place in Manila, Wyoming, near Flaming Gorge. For the next 20-plus years, they enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their place. They boated and fished the Gorge regularly during the summer months and created lasting memories for all who joined them.

His greatest joy was his family. They enjoyed numerous barbecues, family parties, and Sunday evening gatherings. His grandkids all have fond memories of spending time fishing and playing at Flaming Gorge. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Gale; his children, Randy (Julie) Christiansen, Kelly (Janeale) Christiansen, and Jan (Kaylon) Whiteley; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, and a great-granddaughter.

We would like to thank A+ Hospice, especially his nurse, Brittany, and CNA, Sheila, as well as our entire family for the loving care they provided to Dad over the last few months.
