Marilyn Ashman Ashby, 83, of Orem returned home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Marilyn was born March 5, 1933 in Murray, Utah to C. Harold Ashman and Verda Cloy Miner Ashman. She married Richard Land Ashby on August 27, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Richard passed away in 2004.\n\nShe grew up in Midvale and graduated from Jordan High School in 1951. She continued her education at BYU, earning her Bachelors degree in Psychology. In 1975, while raising five children, Marilyn graduated with her Doctorate of Juris Prudence and passed the California Bar Exam the first time.\n\nMarilyn was a dedicated and faithful member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings. Her favorite callings were Nursery Leader and Seminary Teacher. The things most important to Marilyn were her country, her church and testimony, her fellowmen and her family.\n\nShe is survived by her five children: Randilynn (Allan) Porter, Pahrump, NV; Alan (Lori) Ashby, American Fork, UT; Eric (Brandi) Ashby, Fruit Heights, UT; Marcie (Kevin) Smith, Rexburg, ID and Thomas (Deanna) Ashby, Twin Falls, ID; 31 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters: Joyce Rawson and Sheryl (Dent) Taylor and brother, Kent (Mary) Ashman. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; her brother, Lowell Ashman and her granddaughter, Sarah Ashby.\n\nFuneral services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Orem Lakeview Eighth Ward Chapel, 155 West 1600 South, Orem where family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30-10:45 am.
