Marilyn McAlister, 84, of Lindon passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at American Fork Hospital. She was born September 9, 1930 to Hector and Lenna Peterson. She married Val McAlister on December 23, 1970 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.\n\nMarilyn was born in Castle Dale, Utah, and then moved to Minneapolis, MA in 1943 with her family. After moving to Davenport, IA, for a year, Marilyn's family moved to Tacoma, WA, where she resided until adulthood. She graduated from Brigham Young University and was a social worker for Utah County for several years until meeting her future husband, Val. Marilyn's greatest passion, however, was being a loving wife, sister, and mother.\n\nShe is survived by her husband Val McAlister of Lindon, Utah; three children: Renata Waters, Provo, UT; Hubert (Helen) McAlister, Mt. View, WY; Paul (Rebecca) McAlister, Fayetteville, NC; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Reed (Fern) Peterson, Katy, TX; sister, Lucille Marshall, Tacoma, WA.\n\nFuneral services will be held Friday, September 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lindon Fifth Ward Chapel, 610 West 100 South, Lindon, Utah.
