Marilyn Seamons

–

Pleasant Grove, Utah

Marilyn Joan Ulrich Seamons, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away quietly at her home on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the age of 95.

Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, during the depression, her family moved to Muskegon, Michigan, where her father found work. When she was 8, her family moved to Hagerstown, Indiana, the town where her father was born.

During high school, Marilyn was on the basketball team. She loved sports of all kinds. Whenever there was a sports game on TV, she would be cheering on her favorite team.

Her uncle, Walter Ulrich, and aunt, Dorothy, started taking Marilyn to church with them when she was 12. When she graduated from high school in 1948, she was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In 1949, she made the long trip from Indiana to Logan, Utah, where she entered the LDS School of Nursing. In Marilyn’s words, “It was a wonderful experience. I had wanted to become a nurse for a long time.”

In the spring of 1952, she met Darwin Leroy Seamons. They became engaged and were married in the Logan Temple on September 12, 1952.

Darwin graduated from Utah State University in 1953 as an electrical engineer. He worked for General Electric. Darwin’s job took them to Ohio, New York, Indiana, Alaska, and then to Denver.

In 1969, the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Darwin worked at the 4 Corners Power Plant. In 1973, Darwin died during a ward scout trip in Yellowstone Lake, leaving Marilyn a widow with six children between the ages of 8 -18.

Marilyn was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in several positions, including Primary President, Relief Society President, and ordinance worker in the Albuquerque temple.

While living in Albuquerque, she developed a love for the Native Americans. She would visit with them frequently and also trade for their beautiful blankets and silver jewelry. She also developed a love of hot air balloons while living there. She regularly attended the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta held every October.

Other passions Marilyn enjoyed were camping, bowling, and collecting insulators from telephone poles. She would frequently take her children to some remote area and have them climb the power poles to bring down the insulators.

In the summer of 2010, Marilyn’s children finally convinced her to move closer to her children and grandchildren in Utah. This move made it more convenient to spend time with her family.

Marilyn was a friend to everyone. Everywhere she went, she made friends. That was her talent. Consequently, Marilyn has many friends all across the country.

Marilyn leaves behind her children, Nancy Seamons, Kevin (Corine) Seamons, Wendy (Ben) de Hoyos, Chris (Ines) Seamons, and Cindy Seamons, along with 23 grandchildren, and 65 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Darwin; her daughter Penny; her grandson, Eric; her parents, Jesse and Wanda Ulrich, and her three brothers, Don, Jim, and Larry Ulrich.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Logan City Cemetery, 1000 North 1200 East, Logan, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.

In lieu of flowers, we invite you to perform an act of kindness and become a better friend and family member to those you love.
