Mary passed away on January 29th, 2023

Mary (Vance) Deveraux (91), our beloved mother, peacefully reunited with her eternal companion on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at her home in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Mom was born in Alpine, Utah to Van Alma and Mary Alice Vance on October 11, 1931. She attended American Fork High School where she graduated in 1950. She met her sweetheart Richard (Dick) William Deveraux in 1948 and they were married in the Manti Temple for time and all eternity on August 11, 1950. Music was a very important part of Mom's life. From the age of 12, she always held a church calling playing the organ or piano. Mom and Dad sang together and were widely known to sing in sacrament meetings, at funerals, and other events. They sang in the Timpanogos Chorale for many years. Mom taught piano lessons in her home for over 40 years. Mom loved being a temple worker with her husband at both the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos temples. She held many stake and ward callings in Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society positions. But her favorite calling in life was being a devoted wife and mother. She was a gleaming example to all of courage, strength, and had a devoted testimony to her Heavenly Father. We will certainly miss her loving smile and presence in our lives. Mom is survived by her daughters Marcia (Steve) Margetts, Dixie (Alan) Young, Angie (Teddy) Howard, sons Van (Janet) Deveraux, Stan (Sonya) Deveraux, Gary (Debbie) Deveraux, 21 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, and her brother Dalise Vance, and sister Lily (Paul) Jacobson. Mom was preceded in death by her husband Richard (Dick) William Deveraux, her sister Kathryn (Kirk) Dimick, brother Calvan (Margaret) Vance, grandson Tyler Deveraux, grandson "DJ" Howard, and great grandson Vance Deveraux. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Grove Creek Fourth Ward Chapel, 950 North 500 East, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:00 -10:45 am prior in to the services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com. We would like to thank the many family, friends, neighbors, ward family, and health care workers for all your help, love, support, and prayers.

I am saddened but Happy to hear that Mary has left us here in this earthly home to join her sweetheart Dick.in our Heavenly Home. As her young cousin I was always so impressed with her. She was a beautiful young lady and so talented with music. She sang like an Angel and I am sure she and Dick will be singing together in the Heavenly Choir. They sang at my Dad's funeral and when I close my eyes I can still her their lovely voices. I will hold the memory of her close in my heart until we all meet again.
