Mary Helen West

Mary Helen Nerdin West passed away peacefully at her home in Thoreau, New Mexico, on August 8, 2026.

Mary Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arnold K. West, and her parents, Joseph Arnold Nerdin and Georgia Lamar Powell Nerdin West.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory, including her four children: Lorelei Burbank (Larry), Michael West, Penny Elkins (Wade), and Candy Church (Vernon); 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Helen’s greatest legacy is the love she shared with her family. Her memory will live through the many lives she touched and through the generations of her family who will carry her love and memories forward.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Levan Cemetery, 400 South 400 East, Levan, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
