Molly Watkins Thurston, 83, of Pleasant Grove passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023 in American Fork, Utah. She was born December 25, 1939 in Provo, Utah to Orin V. and Lucy Jeppson Watkins. Molly graduated from Provo High in 1958. She married Edwin D. Thurston on November 24, 1962 in Orem, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in Salt Lake Temple on February 7, 1978 by Elder Thomas S. Monson, Ed's former Bishop. Together Molly and Ed had four children: Trisha, Teri, Michael, and David and foster daughter Missy. \n\nSome of Molly's jobs included the Hi-Spot Drive In in Provo, a switchboard operator, and for the LDS Church Genealogical Department in Salt Lake City. \n\nShe grew up on 5th West in Provo. It was there that she developed a love for horses. She had a pony named Merry Legs and a stallion named Sunday which her father bought from her for $100.00. She also enjoyed bowling and bowled in many leagues. She loved to crochet and many family members and friends received afghan blankets, hot pads, and wash clothes over the years. She loved to give gifts of homemade jam (especially strawberry) for Christmas to friends, neighbors, and the mailman. She and Ed loved attending BYU men's and women's volleyball matches. Attending performances at the Scera Shell and Desert Star Playhouse was also a favorite pastime. \n\nMolly is survived by: Marie (Rick) Jones, Dixie Economy (Ed's daughters from a previous marriage), Missy (Bryan) Sorenson, Trisha (Robert) Boyer, Teri (Earl) Fronk, Michael (Shannon) Thruston, and David Thurston. Twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brother Leroy Watkins. Molly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin, sister Jill Finlayson, sister-in-law Arline Watkins, daughter-in-law Heather Thurston, and great-grandson Julian Boyer. \n\nFuneral Services will be held Wednesday June 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Timpanogos Sixth Ward Chapel 325 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a Viewing at the church from 9:00 - 10:45 AM prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
