Murray M. Hoki, 88, of Pleasant Grove passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014. He was born in Gunnison, Utah on May 11, 1926, to Shigechika Hoki and Misa Miyagawa Hoki. He grew up in Holladay, Utah with four siblings, David, Shigeo, Toshio, and Sadako.\n\nAfter graduation from Granite High School in 1944, he served in the US Army with service in the occupational forces in Italy. He attended Temple University, Utah State, and finally BYU, from where he graduated in broadcasting and journalism. He served a 3 year LDS mission to Japan; later married a young lady from Hawaii, Martha Chieko Funai in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of six children; Gary (Kimmy), Kellie (Mark), David (Susan), Linda (Dave), Darin (Xitla), and Jason, and the grandparents of nineteen.\n\nMurray was a convert to the church and served in many and various callings, including branch president, high councilor, ward and stake clerk, stake executive secretary, stake mission presidency, temple ordinace worker in the Los Angeles and Mount Timpanogos temples.\n\nMurray and Martha lived for 36 years in Granada Hills, California where their children grew up. He worked for many years for the Bonneville International Corp. where he produced the "LDS Family Hour", which was syndicated to many Bonneville radio stations. He and Martha returned to Utah to Pleasant Grove in 2007.\n\nFuneral services will be held Monday. October 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mt Mahogany Stake Center, 1548 North 900 West, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing at the church on Sunday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. and again on Monday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
