Myrna Cosgrove

–

Pleasant Grove, Utah

Myrna Marie (Siems) Cosgrove
Born July 2, 1952

Myrna was born and raised in Bismarck, ND, to Robert & Elizabeth (Hellman) Siems. She was the 5th child of 12 siblings. Since she was 1 of 7 sisters, they each assumed a dwarf personality nickname from Snow White. Her nickname was “Happy”, and for a reason!

She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1970, and during her senior year, worked for the North Dakota State Water Commision. In 1974 she moved to Utah and was married 4 years later. In the following years she had two beautiful children James and Cassandra. Her family was her life and she lived and breathed for them.

For over 20 years, she then worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for the Utah Neurological Clinic. She always said how much she loved being a small part of helping people under the high demand of the neurosurgeons’ clinic.

She was quite the lady and had a huge heart that she extended to everyone. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for her friends and family. She was the most selfless caring person you would ever meet and was always finding ways to help others; including opening her home to friends and family who needed somewhere to go. She jokingly referred to this as "taking in strays." She was dedicated to serving Saint Peter’s Catholic Parish in the choir and on the Women’s Council, for which she won the well deserved title “Woman of the Year” in 2016.

A few of her favorite things were roses, Diet Coke, cooking, The Beatles, John Denver, and watching Jeopardy in the evenings.

She was preceded in death by her son, James; her parents, Robert and Elizabeth; her infant sister, Mary Margaret; and her brother, John Siems.

Myrna is survived by her daughter Cassandra, granddaughter Christine, and her siblings and their spouses: Judy Joeb, Tom (Marj) Siems, Harold (Debe) Siems, Kathy (Allen) Shafer, Walter (Tammy) Siems, Pauline (Gary) Meissner, Christine (Kevin) Soule, Marian (Glenn) Kroh, Ginny (Wes) Doepke. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, as well as her honorary sister, Pam Happy, and her beloved rescue cat, Myka.

There will be a celebration of life for her locally and then she will be returned to her home state of North Dakota where she will be reunited to rest peacefully with her parents. There will be a funeral for her in North Dakota in the fall.
