On Saturday morning January 4, 2014 our sweet Mother, Myrna Giles, passed peacefully from this life into the eternities and is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father. Myrna Loy Simons Giles was born on March 18, 1941 in Mount Pleasant Utah (Sanpete County) to Levi Alden and Fontella White Simons. Myrna is the ninth of thirteen children with five brothers and seven sisters. Myrna married Darrell J. Giles on June 27, 1958 in Provo Utah. She brought ten children into this life and is the matriarch of 48 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and has a host of nieces and nephews.\n\nMyrna always had a twinkle in her eye and could make anything grow (for evidence look at her grandchildren.) If there was ever a baby around Myrna could be found cuddling and caring for the little ones. Myrna loves her Savior Jesus Christ, and was always in the service of others. Myrna was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held positions in the Relief Society and Primary. Myrna loved to attend the temple and to teach her family about her Savior. She always taught with gentle instruction and never failing kindness and example.\n\nMyrna loved to sew, draw, garden and sing (but only when she thought there were none to hear.) She started her family and settled in Orem to raise her children. Myrna worked at the Hi Spot in Orem and Wilkins Market (Scott's store) on the corner of fourth north and eighth west in Orem and was a great friend to Scott Wilkins.\n\nMyrna was preceded in death by her parents (Alden and Fontella Simons,) one brother (Devere Simons,) three sisters (Betty Simons, Debra Simons, and Fontella LaRue Simons Carter,) her youngest son (DJ Giles,) her grandson (Gage Schawang,) and three son-in-laws (John King, Heath Mounga, and Randy Schawang.) She is survived by Darrell J Giles, nine of her children Tim Giles(Lesa,) Loyann Christensen (Will,) Terry King, John Giles, Mary Dollar (Jody), Stephanie Horlacher (Kory), Sandra Giles, Patti Mounga, Bobbie Jo Young, her daughter-in-law Treanna Vorlage Giles, 48 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.\n\nSpecial thanks to Myrna's Doctors and caregivers and especially to the staff of First Choice Hospice and Home Health.\n\nFuneral services will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Second Ward Chapel, 455 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove.
