Neldon Eugene Pay Obituary (1941

Neldon Eugene Pay, age 79, died Thanksgiving Day, Nov 26, 2020 after a long battle with multiple health issues. He was born June 28, 1941 to Jesse Eugene Pay and Cora Beth Rostron, in Nephi, Utah. Neldon spent many of his early years living in Orem, Utah. He graduated from Orem High School, Class of 1959. Shortly after graduation he joined the US Navy, serving his country for 20 years and eventually achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He served in various areas including Vietnam, during the Vietnam war, the Philippines, Japan, Hawaii, San Diego, CA and Washington D.C. After retiring from the Navy, Neldon made his home in Orem, Utah, to be near his family. He worked at various jobs through the years as a data entry specialist, but his favorite job came later in life working at an Orem elementary school as a custodian. He loved it when the kids called out "Hi, Mr. Pay!". Neldon was known for his love of family and service to them and his fun sense of humor, often whipping out one-liners in the least expected moments. His other loves included Disney, Pepsi, and ice cream. His children can attest to his penchant for walking (do you know how far it is from downtown DC to Arlington National Cemetery?!). He never met a stranger without discovering something about them that they just might have in common. Neldon is survived by his two daughters, Kelly Jean Pay Johnson, of Charlotte, NC and Sherie Lin Pay Comish of Murray, Utah. He is also survived by his brother, Bert Gary Pay, of Spanish Fork, Utah, his two sisters, Tammy Kay Evans Pawlowski and Loy Beth Evans, both of Orem Utah, 4 grandchildren, Michael, Edward, Boyd, and Alissa, and 6 great-grandchildren. He loved and was proud of all of his grandchildren and their spouses. The family would like to thank the staff at A Plus, especially Desiree, Jessica, and Judi who took him into their hearts and in his declining months provided him extraordinarily good care. They would also like to thank the staff and residents at Bellaview Assisted Living, who embraced Neldon in his final weeks, filling his days with fun--and ice cream.
