Nell Louise Williams Obituary (1922 - 2017)

Anchorage resident Nell Louise Williams passed away at the age of 94 on April 8, 2017, of natural causes at Alaska Regional Hospital. She is survived by her two daughters, Juliana Wold and Eloise Hayes, five grandchildren, Michelle LaCour (William Wright), Christine Tozier, Leslie LaCour (William Wyatt), Wayne Wold (Shawna), and Cheryl Rennick (Gavin), and eight great-grandchildren, Sydney, Axel, Haakon, Aubrey, Ivy, Declan, Jordyn, and Dax. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Samuel Thomas Williams, parents William and Rhoda Stagg, and all of her siblings, Ella, Gilbert, Florence, Margaret, Robert, Beth, Leah and Richard. Louise was born June 25, 1922, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, the eighth of nine children born to William and Rhoda Stagg. She was raised on a small farm until she graduated from high school. At the age of seventeen she moved to Los Angeles and worked at Rexal Drugs as a soda jerk. It was there she met her husband, Sam. They married in 1942. Shortly afterward they welcomed their first child Juliana in Utah while Sam served in the Air Force, and Eloise, their second child, while stationed in Oregon in 1944. They then moved to Anchorage in September 1957, where she began working as a waitress at Cloudhopper's Dining Room Restaurant at the International Airport, then at the Travelers Inn during the 1960's. In late 1962, they were stationed in Massachusetts until their return in February 1964. After Sam's retirement from the Service, they moved to Wasilla, Alaska, where they built their home on Lake Lucille. They began working as Real Estate Agents at Wasilla Realty until their retirement. They built a home in Tucson, Arizona and resided there in the winters while returning to Anchorage to be with family and friends in the summers. They traveled the world visiting 23 countries while keeping photo albums of all their trips. One of her greatest joys was cross-stitching, creating beautiful pieces she gifted to family and friends, usually after winning blue ribbons from entering them in the Alaska State Fair. Louise spent her final years at Chester Park Retirement Home staying active and spending time with her family and friends. With her quick wit, sense of humor and easy going nature throughout the years, she will be missed. Pallbearers will be Harlan Wold, Wayne Wold, Faruk Nader, Robert Smith, Shaler Smith, and James Bailey. A viewing will take place April 21, 2017, from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at the Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah., with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, 700 North 100 West.
