Nettie Wise Obituary (2022) - Pleasant Grove, Utah

Our beloved Mother has left this life and is happily reunited with her sweetheart, our Dad, Robert Wise. Nettie lived a full and vivacious life. She passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022, surrounded by her children. She was just 60 days short of 99th birthday. She had struggled the last couple weeks to recover from a fall that broke her hip. Nettie Margaret Faucett Suhlsen Wise was born on Feb 12, 1924 in a tiny white house in Boise Idaho, to Inez Vivian Valentine and Jesse Ray Faucett. She had one beloved sister, Wyoma Faucett, who preceded her in death. Her early years were spent in Idaho and Utah. Following a divorce her mother married Harold Suhlsen, and the family moved to San Francisco when she was 10. California remained her home until she moved to American Fork, UT 8 years ago. She graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, CA. Later she studied early childhood education at San Jose State College. She loved children and spent her career teaching preschool. She was very proud of the parent co-op preschools she started in Menlo Park, Los Altos, and Clovis. Nettie met the love of her life, Robert Mansfield Wise of Palo Alto at a school dance when they were 14. Dad said it was love at first sight. They dated through high school until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She waited for Bob to return from the war, and they were married in the Stanford Chapel on Dec. 21, 1946. They were later sealed to each other and their children in the Oakland Temple for all eternity. Bob and Nettie had 4 children. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Wise (Katherine) of Atherton, CA, Nancy Wise Low (Mark-deceased) of Highland, UT, Robert Wise (Cat) of Fresno, CA, Janet Wise Bice (David) of American Fork, UT, and 19 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. Bob and Nettie spent their married lives in California, spending most of their time in Palo Alto, before moving to Clovis. After Bob retired, they returned to Menlo Park, where Bob passed away in 1998. When Nettie was 92 years old, she reluctantly, but with a cheery attitude, left her beloved California and moved to Utah to be closer to her daughters. Nettie was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a long-time member of the Palo Alto 2nd ward where she served with joy and a loving heart. Our Mother was independent, strong-willed, funny and fiercely devoted to her family. She loved the beach and was not afraid to try new things. She loved making people laugh, and believed in the importance of education and service to the Lord. She loved getting to know people and made friends with everyone she met. She inspired and changed us all eternally through her laughter, joy and faith. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the Manila Stake Center Chapel, 850 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. An additional service will take place Friday, January 13, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Palo Alto Foothills Ward LDS chapel, 3865 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, California.
