Pauline was born November 13, 1940, in Paonia, Colorado, the third daughter of Paul and Arvella Berg. Growing up on a farm alongside her two sisters, she learned early lessons in devotion as she worked among the many acres of fruit trees. Following the tragic loss of her father in a mining accident when she was just 17, Pauline remained at home for several years to help her mother manage and care for the farm.
Throughout her life, Pauline dedicated herself to loving and serving children. She ran a home daycare, welcomed special needs children into her care, and served for over 20 years with the Utah and Idaho state foster care programs—an experience that led her to expand her family through adoption. Mother to 5 biological children (including her sweet child who passed away early in life), 6 adopted children, and 2 step-children, she often shared her core belief: “It doesn’t matter if a child comes to you or through you, they are the same.”
While raising her family, Pauline maintained a career across healthcare as a nurse, home health caregiver, medical transcriptionist, and medical office administrator. Through her example, she taught her children the value of hard work and universal kindness. Her boundless compassion truly changed countless lives.
Pauline was married for 18 years to her first husband, and later spent 32 cherished years with her eternal companion, Roland. She served two medical missions abroad—to China and Africa—alongside her physician son. Pauline found her greatest joy outdoors, in her garden, and in the company of children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose deep faith, kindness, and light inspired everyone who knew her.
