Pleasant Grove, Utah
Raymond Wilbur Homer, 95, of Pleasant Grove, Utah passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Ray was born on September 5, 1928 in Preston, Idaho to Edmund Elmo and Daisy Blanche Brandon Homer.
Raymond grew up in Pleasant Grove and attended schools there. He joined the US Navy and served during WWII. Upon his return from military service, Ray was called to serve in the Central States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1949-1951. After his return from his mission, Ray met the “love of his life” Olga Johnson and were married February 15, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Ray worked hard to take care of his family. He was a devoted and faithful member of the Church and served faithfully in many callings including six missions and many years of temple services with his wife.
He was a devoted Father, Patriarch, Patriot and Gentleman and was a great example to all who knew him.
His family remembers fondly how Ray never complained or found fault in any person and always saw the best in others (especially his wife).
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Olga; eight children: Raymond (Yvonne) Homer, Pleasant Grove; Gayle (Donald) Jackson, Saratoga Springs; Valoy (Robert) Bowers, Salina; Mary (Lew) Bennett, Pleasant Grove; Christina Smith, Virgin, UT; Lorilyn Homer, Pleasant Grove; Julio (Pinky) Homer, Pleasant Grove; Oscar (Jami) Homer, St George; daughter-in-law, Marla Homer, Salt Lake City; 37 grandchildren, 85 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; sister: Kathleen Morris, Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by four sons: Vernon Michael Homer, Kelly Ross Homer, Adam Alma Homer and Keith Clark Homer.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Intermountain Home Health and Hospice and the angel caregivers at the Covington who cared for our Dad.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Grove Creek Second Ward Chapel, 475 North 700 East, where family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30-10:45 am prior to funeral services.
