On December 19, 2017 in Duchesne, Utah our loving father and grandfather Roland Jr. Barnhart returned to his heavenly father at the age of 91, just five days short of turning 92.\n\r\nRoland was born December 24, 1925 in Lehi, Utah to Jay Lester "Cap" Barnhart and Bernice Eleanor Slater Barnhart.\n\r\nHer married Hazel LaWana Richards on December 24, 1945. The made their home in Pleasant Grove, Utah where they raised six children. After years of caring for his loving wife he then moved to Duchesne, Utah after her passing.\n\r\nRolland loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time at the Seniors Center in Duchesene. He was employed with US Steel for 33 years and was a volunteer fireman for Pleasant Grove City for 27 years. He was awarded a 60 year honorary certificate with his gold pin in 2016 for being the last living volunteer fireman in the state of Utah. After retiring from US Steel, Rolland started driving a bus, old #6, for Alpine School District, a job he really loved.\n\nRolland is survived by his children: Kent (Cheryl) Barnhart, Cynthia (Ronald) Posselli, Terry (Teresa) Barnhart, Gloria (Boyd) Swenson, Sheila Bills, Kim (Susan) Barnhart; 30 grandchildren and over a hundred great and great-great grandchildren.\n\nRolland was preceded in death by his wife, LaWana; parents; eleven siblings and two great grandchildren: Celeste and Wade.\n\nFuneral services will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove where family and friends may attend a viewing from 10:30-11:45 am prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 72. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
