Shauna' Walton

–

Pleasant Grove, Utah

Shauna’ Sheffield Walton, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Dana Point, California, on September 5, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was 83.

Born on her father’s birthday, August 15, 1943, in Brigham City, Utah, Shauna’ developed an early love of books and learning, along with a determination to succeed. She graduated from Box Elder High School and later earned both her bachelor’s and law degrees from Brigham Young University.

Shauna’ met her husband, Harold Ray Walton, while she was an undergraduate at Brigham Young University. They married in May 1967 and had two sons, Raymond Brent Walton, born in 1968, and Kirk Alan Walton, born in 1969. After Ray’s death in 1975, Shauna’ became the sole provider and caregiver for Brent and Kirk. Though the responsibility was daunting, she rose to the challenge and devoted the next several years to raising her sons.

While raising Brent and Kirk in Salt Lake City, Shauna’ built a successful legal career specializing in real estate and property transactions. She earned a series of promotions and eventually became vice president of American Savings and Loan. Her work drew attention beyond Utah, and she was recruited to California—a place she had long dreamed of living—to serve as one of the principal attorneys counseling Dr. Jerry Buss on property and real estate transactions, including contracts involving the Los Angeles Lakers.

Shauna’ practiced law until a massive heart attack at age 49 permanently disabled her from continuing her legal career. She responded by reshaping her life, devoting herself to her husband at the time, Emil Reisman, mastering Reiki, and becoming a devoted grandmother.

In the final chapter of her life, Shauna’ moved from Los Angeles to Dana Point, California. She became a dedicated beach walker and formed friendships with many women who had also endured profound heartache and trauma. She found a special joy in nurturing, supporting, and guiding her grandchildren during their visits to the beach. Through the life lessons she shared and the traditions she created, Shauna’ left her family and friends with memories they will cherish fondly.

Shauna’ is survived by her sons, Raymond Brent Walton and Kirk Alan Walton, her sister Jeanie Peck, and several grandchildren. Brent’s (and Jennifer Walton’s) children are Dennin Ray Walton and Tesher Carmack Walton; Kirk’s children (with Liza Long) are Kirk Long, Mnemosyne (Moss) Arc, Brandon Walton, Sam Walton, (with Amy Walton) Porter McPherson, Finnian McPherson, Jack Walton, Marigold (Goldie) Walton, and Greta Walton. Shauna’ was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Ray Walton, Ralph McFarland, and Emil Reisman; her parents, Boyd M. Sheffield and Norma Sheffield; her brothers, William Sheffield and Michael Sheffield; and her sister, Sandra Carlson.
