Sherrie Annette Dastrup, age 71, passed away November 21, 2014, in American Fork, Utah. She was born October 5, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Rue Barron Dastrup and Shirlee Vera Olsen. She was a member of the LDS Church.\n\nSherrie's happy childhood was spent in Auburn, California, where she was adored by her loving parents, her sister Lindsay, and her brother Lincoln. She graduated from Placer High School. Following high school, Sherrie earned an Associate in Arts degree from Sierra College in Rocklin, California. In 1963 while at Sierra College, she enjoyed cheerleading and won the "Most Popular Girl on Campus" contest on campus. This designation gave her the chance to be the cover girl for her college yearbook. After graduating from Sierra College, Sherrie moved to Utah and attended Brigham Young University.\n\nIn 1969, she married David Rex Yeaman, and they had four beautiful children. They later divorced. She married Robert Ray Thornton in 1989. They later divorced.\n\nSherrie loved business. During her working years, she was the president of several companies, including Omicron Industries, American Tote Bag, Classic Covers Inc., Custom Executive, and Intraco International Trading Company. Her work gave her opportunities to travel around the world. Recently she worked for the law office of Gacovino and Lake in New York City.\n\nFamily history was a big part of Sherrie's life. She loved her ancestors and had a testimony of the importance of family history work. She spent much time documenting her genealogy, preserving family photographs, and creating scrapbooks for her loved ones. She also loved to shop, travel, and spend time with her family.\n\nSherrie had a dazzling smile, a witty sense of humor, and many social graces. She knew how to make people feel important, loved, and special. Sherrie was an incredible grandma and adored her grandchildren, spending individual time with each one. She always kept the candy jar full for them and loved buying them special treats for their birthdays and every holiday. She was such a "cool" grandma that her adoring grandchildren lovingly nicknamed her "Gangsta."\n\nSurvivors include her three daughters: Tristan (Blair) Tolman, Highland, Utah; Sasha (Brady) Belliston, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Brittany Yeaman, Salt Lake City, Utah; her mother, Shirlee Dastrup, Pleasant Grove, Utah; a sister, Lindsay (Rick) Powell, Alpine, Utah; nine grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her son, David "Brody" Yeaman; her father, Rue Dastrup; and her brother, Lincoln (Linda) Dastrup.\n\nPrivate family services will be held.
