Shirley Mae Bushman Stilson Carter, 77, of Orem passed away Friday, May 15, 2015. Shirley was born December 7, 1937 in Castle Gate, Utah to Theodore Martin and Helen LaVerne Arrowsmith Bushman. She married Fred Ferral Stilson and together had two children and were later divorced. She married Byron H. Carter in 1971.\n\nShirley grew up in Orem and attended Lincoln High School. She was an avid gardener and won several beautification awards from Orem City for her efforts. Shirley and Byron enjoyed camping and hunting for arrowheads. She was a member of the LDS Church. Shirley volunteered in the ICU at UVRMC and at the Salvation Army in Provo for many years.\n\nShe is survived by her two children: John (Donna) Stilson, Indianola and Christine (Kevin) Elmer, Orem; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; siblings: Gerald (Peggy) Bushman, Pleasant Grove; Ted (Pat) Bushman, St. George and Delores Hutchings, Payson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband Byron H. Carter.\n\nFuneral services will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove where family and friends may attend a viewing from 12:30-1:45 pm prior to services.
