Tamira Pierce

–

Pleasant Grove, Utah

Tamira Jean Jarvis Pierce was born October 1, 1943, in American Fork, Utah, to Eugene A. Jarvis and Donna Elaine Gibbons Jarvis. She passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones on both sides of the veil. She was the second of three children.

As a child, Tamira was spirited, joyful, and full of energy. She loved to sing and dance, and her passion for music remained with her throughout her life. She sang with her mother, family, and in choirs wherever she lived.

Tamira had a gift for bringing people together and creating joy for those around her. She especially cherished family vacations and had a deep love for the outdoors, flowers, and hummingbirds.

She attended Pleasant Grove Junior High School and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. During high school, she was a member of the drill team, often fondly recalling how she had to make her own costumes because she was so thin.

At the age of 18, Tamira met the love of her life, Shelby H. Pierce, at a party. Although they were immediately drawn to one another, it was Tammy’s best friend who helped arrange their first date. Just six months later, they were married on November 2, 1962, in the Manti Temple.

Tamira and Shelby were blessed with four children. As a devoted and loving mother, Tammy poured her heart into her family. She sewed clothing for her children, started a soccer program in Morgan so they could participate, and included them in her catering business.

She worked in accounting for many years for several aviation companies. Her many talents included quilting, sewing, Tai Chi, and water aerobics. She lovingly spent countless hours making baby quilts, many of which she donated to homeless shelters.

Tamira and Shelby shared a love for traveling, fishing, four-wheeling, camping, and hunting. Together, they also served a mission in the Oregon Eugene Mission. Throughout her life, Tammy held many church callings, with her favorite being caring for the flowers in the temple gardens.

Tamira is survived by her beloved husband, Shelby H. Pierce; her children, Shelby Cordell “Cory” Pierce (deceased), Christopher Eugene “Chris” Pierce. Cari Jean Pierce (deceased), and Erik Pierce (Hailee); and her grandchildren, Ashley Pierce Goodson (Tyson and great granddaughter Iris), MaKalyn Pierce, Cannon Pierce (great granddaughter Ayra), Tucker Stromski, Ben Stromski, and Pierce Stromski, with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her children Shelby Cordell Pierce “Cory” and Cari Jean Pierce Stromski.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17, 2026 in the Hillcrest Second Ward, 1120 North 150 West, American Fork, Utah, at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a viewing from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Cemetery; 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah 84092.

Tamira will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love of the Savior, and her strong testimony. She was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ who had a deep love of family and music, and she brought warmth and joy into the lives of all who knew her.
