TED SIMON YOUNG\n\n1924-2017\n\nOur beloved patriarch, Ted Simon Young, 92, of Lindon, Utah, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2017. He was born October 21, 1924 to Minnie Irene (Willden) and John Wesley Young in Widtsoe, Utah. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1943. He married his sweetheart, Virginia Louise Tomlin on September 24, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served his country in World War II in the Army as a Medic receiving a Purple Heart and a Silver Star for valor during combat. Ted retired from Geneva Steel in 1986 after 42 years of employment.\n\nTed was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together with his wife, Virginia, he served two family history missions. He served as a counselor in the Lindon Ward bishopric and later on the High Council for the Timpanogos Stake. He also served his church and community as a leader in the scouting program for many years. He enjoyed camping and, most of all, spending time with his family. Ted will always be remembered for his sense of humor and great love of storytelling.\n\nTed was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Louise (Tomlin) Young, father John Wesley Young, mother, Minnie Irene (Willden) Young, son, Terry Ray Young, great grandson, Taylor Jay Larsen and siblings, Jay Wesley Young, Delsa Irene (Young) Duncan, Joseph Smith Young, Keith Willden Young, and Marion Dean Young.\n\nTed is survived by his children, Jay (Kathy) Young, Kathlene (Dennis) Phipps, Lyman (Kay) Young, Peggy (Stanley) Adams, Jerry (Kimberly) Young, Alan (Dixie) Young, Rebecca (David) White and daughter-in-law, Tina Young (Terry), 24 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. He is also survived by two siblings, Lynn Budd Young and Ila Jean (Young) Esplin.\n\nMany thanks for the support of dear friends and family.\n\nA viewing will be held Monday, June 5, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Lindon 19th Ward LDS church located at 731 East Center Street, Lindon, Utah. The funeral will proceed after the viewing at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Lindon Cemetery.
