Vone Jay Mitchell, 76, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on May 30, 2014 of causes incident to lung cancer. He was born March 18, 1938 to Joseph Trotter Mitchell and Secried Irene Tomlinson. He attended Pleasant Grove High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1960, served in Germany in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1966. He enjoyed working on the railroad near Thistle, Utah.\n\nVone enjoyed working for Geneva Steel for 22 years and retired in 1987. He married Glenda Joyce Bame January 17, 1964. Together they had three daughters; nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.\n\nHe is survived by his wife Glenda, daughters; Barbara Barney (John Ostler), Brenda (Steve Johnson), and Bonnie (Lloyd Castillo); grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother LeRoy Mitchell (Betty); many nieces and nephews; and so many great friends who have been there through the years.\n\nWe would like to thank First Choice Home Health & Hospice for all their care during this time.\n\nHe is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and two sisters; his son in law Brett W. Barney; and his best friend and dog Harvey. You were the best Husband, Grandpa, Dad, Brother and friend anybody could ask for. There is nobody else out there like you. We love you and you will be truly missed.\n\nGraveside services will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, 700 North 100 East, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing prior to the services from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove.
