William (Bill) Hartgrove, son of Florence and Lloyd suddenly passed away on Christmas night. William was born February 24, 1942, in Rock Island City, Illinois. He was the oldest of 6 children. Bill’s family left Illinois and settled in the San Bernardino area after the end of World War II. Bill was a veteran of the US Navy serving aboard the USS Cowell.\n\nHe went on the pursue a bachelor’s degree at Cal. Poly in Chemistry before pursuing a master’s degree in chemistry at Iowa state in Ames. While being a teacher’s assistant at Iowa state he met freshman Elizabeth Lyons and married her on September 1, 1971. Bill and Liza were later sealed together on March 25th 1980 at the Manti Temple.\n\nBill and Elizabeth moved many times over the years while their family grew to a total of 5 children.\n\nBill loved to keep track of weather conditions up to the end, with many records dating back to the 1960s. He liked to travel and explore unfamiliar places. He would never let anyone fuss over him, he was always willing to help anyone out. He always saw something good in everyone and never said a mean word toward another person.\n\nBill was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Elizabeth.\n\nHe was survived by his 5 siblings Wanda, Dick, Rodney, Bonnie and Tom; his children Josh (Stephanie), Jed (Jen), Zach (Lea), Zeke and Rachel; along with grandchildren Jonas, Ian, Ellie, Aodhan, Dafneigh, Jesse, Alexa, Elizabeth, Abby, Wyatt, Michael, Lexi and Mercedes; and two great grandchildren Kit and Fisher. \n\nA small gathering of friends and family will take place on February 24th from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Olpin Family Mortuary in Pleasant Grove. \n\nCondolences may be sent to the family at olpinmortuary.com.
